Dr. Devabrata Sahoo
Assistant Professor II
Dr. Devabrata Sahoo holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He earned his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, followed by an M.Eng. in Space Engineering and Rocketry with a specialization in Aerodynamics. With over 15 years of active research experience, Dr. Sahoo has developed deep expertise in both experimental and computational aerodynamics, particularly in the supersonic regime.
His experimental work spans a wide range of techniques, including high-speed flow visualization (using Schlieren, shadowgraph, and oil flow methods), unsteady and time-averaged pressure measurements, and force measurement techniques. Complementing his experimental work, Dr. Sahoo has extensive experience with computational tools, especially ANSYS Fluent, and has consistently integrated numerical simulations into his research throughout his career.

- Best paper award at IEEE Punecon 2021 for the paper “Computational Study on Base Drag Reduction for a Boat-tailed Axisymmetric Jet Nozzle through Base Geometry Modifications”.
- Won 2nd Prize in technical poster presentation on title “Unsteady Supersonic Flow over Spiked Blunt Hemisphere” at the Research Day-2018 organised at Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Technion University, Haifa, ISRAEL.
