Dr. Shanta Chakrabarty

Assistant Professor

Dr. Shanta Chakrabarty has been an Assistant Professor at KIIT University since July 2018. She earned her B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from CET Bhubaneswar in 2009 and completed her Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science at IIT Bombay in 2015. Her research spans crystallographic orientation effects, deformation mechanics, and material behaviour modelling. As a Senior Scientist at SANDVIK ASIA, Pune (2015–2018), she worked on microstructure-property driven projects, weldability enhancement, and magnetocaloric material development. She is skilled in materials characterization (FESEM, EBSD, TKD, TMS, NANOINDENTER, DSC, TEM etc) and computational tools (COMSOL, MATLAB, PAM-STAMP and DD Simulation).Her expertise includes thermo-mechanical behaviour of material, microstructural engineering, and advanced metal-forming. With numerous publications, she has guided 2 Ph.D. and 2 M.Tech students by 2024. Dr. Chakrabarty specializes in materials innovation and mechanical behavior of Material at micro and nano scales.
